How to Contribute

Any organisation and/or country with an interest in issues related to chemical accident prevention or preparedness, or which has funds that can be used to assist countries in addressing issues related to chemical safety, should consider supporting this effort.

Contributions, by either donating funds or in-kind support, are welcome from countries, international and regional organisations, industry associations and companies with relevant expertise, universities, research institutes and other non-governmental organisations, as well as foundations or other philanthropic organisations and individuals.
The following types of support will be beneficial to the Flexible Framework Initiative:

  • providing experts to act as Instructors for workshops and training sessions during the country-level projects;
  • providing experts to help develop training materials for workshops and training sessions;
  • serving as a Technical Support Partner to lead the effort in organising country-level projects;
  • developing and implementing “train the trainers” activities in order to expand the pool of experts who can support capacity building activities and, in particular, to work with others in selected regions;
  • lending experts to individual countries in order to help with the preparation of Country Situation Reports or Roadmaps;
  • taking responsibility and covering costs for translating the Flexible Framework Guidance and the Implementation Support Package (ISP) materials and, as appropriate, adapting them for local use;
  • providing financial support either to UNEP or directly to a country(ies) to help cover the costs of training or related capacity building and implementation activities; and
  • identifying other countries that might be interested in enhancing their chemical accident prevention and preparedness programmes;
  • promoting the Flexible Framework Guidance and the Implementation Support Package (e.g. through own organisations’ websites) and using these materials in related activities. Note that the Guidance can be made available on CD-ROMs or as pdf documents to facilitate their distribution and use.

UNEP is also open to other suggestions related to how to make best use of the Flexible Framework Guidance and the ISP and how to support any country that wishes to develop or improve, and implement a CAPP Programme.

UNEP would like to hear from organisations and countries interested in cooperating with UNEP in the areas described above. You can send your suggestions for cooperation to this address: capp@unep.org
